April 14, 2009 TX · Metal/Non-Metal stone finishing and sizing personnel, stone/rock cut/polish/saw operator, splitter, cutter, trimmer MACHINERY
Unger Texas Stone · Struck by flying object

Employee was working the back side of the splitter table when the split stone popped up and struck the employee's arm. The splitter operator was not using bottom holding teeth to the appropriate level to split the stone causing the compression springs to launch the stone upward once the splitter lever was released. Employee was taken to local ER for X-rays.

Unger Texas Stone · Struck by falling object

Employee was moving rubble from a pile when a stone shifted and rolled onto her foot just beyond the steel toe portion of her boot. The employee sustained bruising and swelling to her foot in the metatarsal region. The employee was removed from duty for the remainder of the day. The foot was elevated and ice applied.
