Struck by flying object

Employee was in the slate yard talking to a worker who was cleaving slate when a shard of the hammer came off, hit the eyelid of the employee, then fell to the ground. The employee had to seek medical attention due to blurry vision in the left eye. There was a slight cut on his left eyelid. He visited two doctors and returned to work the next day.

Worker was trimming slate when he moved right hand and part of right hand caught under the blade, causing the right ring finger and small finger to be cut through. Gloves were worn.
