While climbing down ladder of 988 cat loader, employee slipped and grabbed ladder with left arm to hold himself when felt/heard pops.

Employee was using a maul to hit a shank cover on a 988 bucket. A very tiny metal fraqment broke off the maul head and struck employees lower lip apparently embedding in the lower lip.
