THE INJURED WORKER AND THE DRAGLINE OPERATOR WERE REPLACING A WORN DRAG CABLE ON THE 4600 MANITOWOC DRAGLINE THEY HADLOOPED THENEW CALBE THROUGH THE CLAW AND WERE PREPARING TO PLACE THE WEDGE IN THE CLAW TO DRAW THE SLACK FROM THE DRAG CABLE. WHEN THE INJURED WORKER REACHED FORTHE WEDGE THE DRAG CABLE SLIPPED FROM THE CLAW AND STRUCK HIM IN THE FACE CAUSING A LACERATION ON THE NOS
CONTR EMPL HAD LEFT MINE PROPERTY,STOPPED VEHICLE AND WAS WALKING ON WEST SIDE OF ROAD TO STOP R/ TRAFFIC PRIOR TO A BLAST TO BE FIRED AT COAL MINE SITE OPERATIONS OF COMPANY.STRUCK BY SOUTHBO UND VEHICLE AND WAS KILLED.
