Miner observed bad roof conditions, set a temporary jack to support the roof until permanent roof support could be installed. Part of the roof fell, injuring the miners back.

I WAS HOISTING COAL AN LOOKED AND SEEN SMOKE AND FIRE SO I TRIED TO MAKE IT OUT WITH A FIRE EXITING AND COULD NOT PUT IT OUT. I HAD THE MAN WITH TRAM FROM THE MIEN THRU THE 2 OUTLET.
