EMPLOYEE WAS OPERATING "GRIZZLY" ROCK SCREENER. ONE LARGE ROCK ROLLED ONTO DRIVING AREA. EMPLOYEE DECIDED THE ROCK WAS NOT TOO HEAVY TO BE LIFTED. HE LIFTED THE PROPER WAY, USING HIS LEGS, BUT HE FELT A SUDDEN STRAIN ON HIS BACK.

EMPLOYEE WAS EXITING ENDLOADER CAB; HE HAD MUDDYBOOTS & SLIPPED ON BOTTOM RUNG OF LADDER & TRIEDTO STOP HIS FALL BY GRABBING LADDER RUNG WITH RIGHT HAND. HE HUNG HIS RIGHT ARM AND BUMPED THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS BODY AGAINST THE LOADER. HE CONTINUED WORKING THE SHIFT AND VISITED CHIROPRACTOR NEXT DAY--STRAIN THAT SHOULD HEAL DURINGWINTER LAYOFF DID NOT OCCUR. SURGERY 4/21/00.
