Worker descending ladder from big jaw crusher slipped on a rung and right hand outside two fingers caught on the side rail and lacerated them. Slip occurred due to worker unfamiliarity with newly installed guard to please MSHA.

EMPLOYEE REMOVED GUARD ON CONVEYOR TO TROUBLE SHOOT WITHOUT TURNING OFF CONVEYOR AND STUCK HAND IN CONVEYOR. RIGHT WRIST WAS PINCHED BETWEEN BELT AND HOPPER. NOTE: THIS DOCUMENT WAS SENT IN WI TH A GRACE PERIOD INDICATOR. WE DID NOT FEEL IT FIT WITHIN THE GUIDELINES OF THE GRACE PERIOD PROGRAM.
