Apparently an intoxicated ATV operator was fatally injured near our inactive mine at Bloomfield. The Wisconsin DNR led our manager to believe that the accident occurred off mine property. We were informed on 12/23/2009 that the accident may have occurred on the haul road. The individual was not an employee.

COMEALONG SLIPPED AND FELL ON HAND OF OPERATOR WHO HAPPENED TO BE STNDING NEARBY REPAIRING A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. IT CUT HIS LEFT HAND, SIX STITCHES WERE REQUIRED. PER HIS SUPERVISOR, ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD EE "HOOKED THINGS UP DIFFERENTLY." WAS NOT AN EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTION.
