Savannah Gray Quarry, LLC · Struck by flying object

EE repairing track on CAT track loader. EE was hitting a pin with a sledge hammer, Pins held track segments together. Two small pieces of metal flaked off and went into EE's left hand. EE worked 7/15, had surgery 7/16. Out 7/17-7/18. Light duty 7/21-7/25.

EE was drilling with a jackhammer and stepped with right foot on a metal wedge that was about to be hit by another employee with a sledgehammer. EE was wearing steel toed boots, but the force of the blow fractured EE's right big toe in 3 places, and lacerated EE's foot requiring 6 stitches to close up.
