Hanson Material Service · Contact with hot objects or substances

An Operator sustained a burn to left palm while using a cutting torch. Some debris plugged up the torch head while cutting causing the flame to go out. EE assumed the flame was completely out and used EE's left hand (with leather gloves on) to remove the material. Upon clearing the material, the flame re-lit resulting in the injury.

Hanson Material Service · Struck against a moving object

An equipment operator was in a Cat 980H FEL working at the Aglime stockpile. While at the face of the stockpile working the pile a large chunk of frozen material broke free falling about 15 feet & landed in bucket. The weight of the material caused the loader to tip forward causing operator to be thrown forward in the cab making contact with the door glass and cab support pillar.

An Operator strained a muscle in left lower back while pulling on a wrench to remove a bolt securing a hydraulic hose in place on a Front End Loader. The employee reported the incident and denied medical treatment at that time. Later next week ee made the Leadman aware ee had gone to the Chiropractor on own for treatment without informing anyone at the Mine Site.

A Bin Operator experienced back pain while cleaning a screen. The injured miner was in a squatting position cleaning the screen. Then while moving from the squatting position to an upright position he experienced pain in his back.

The injured miner was in the process of unlocking and opening the gates to the plant. While walking to swing open one half of the gate he slipped on the ice and snow striking his head and shoulder on the ground.

PLATE HIT MAN ON LEFT FOOT AS HE WALKED OUT FROM UNDER CONVEYOR. RESULTED IN BROKEN FOOT. MAN HAD ON STEEL TOED SHOES.
