Two men were drilling bottom line when a seam in the next cut back gave way. The piece of stone that broke loose was large enough to crush both men. One man was fatally crushed and the other is in critical condition.

2 recordedEE WAS DIGGING OUT BLOCKS FROM BLOCK STACK. HE HAD REMOVED TWO BLOCKS FROM THE STACK, AND PARKED HIS OADER ABOUT 15 FEET AWAY FROM THE BLOCKS. HE THEN GOT OUT OF THE LOADER TO EXAMINE THE TWO BLOCKS WHICH WERE ABOUT 4 FEET APART. THE BACK BLOCK WAS UNSTABLE AND TIPPED FORWARD FATALLY CRUSHING HIM BETWEEN IT AND THE FRONT BLOCK.
