This miner was repairing a oil leak, when the hydraulic hose sprung loose from its fitting spraying hydraulic oil all over the work area. Oil landed in his face/eyes and the hose slightly bruised his right index finger. He was given first aid (flushed the eyes with ophtalmic solution) on the mine and taken to the nearest local hospital which later released him.

During maintenance procedures of screen machine the loader operator struck the elevating conveyor while miner was on the conveyor pinching him against the chute. The miner was given first aid, an ambulance was called and he was tranferred to Mayaguez Hospital where he was attended to and released that same day.
