Miner was removing pump packing from a booster pump, when he lost balance & caught himself before falling and then felt something wrench back. He later felt back pain and will be going to a chiropractic clinic for treatment, as soon as he can get an appointment.

WALKING ON DECK OF DREDGE, SLIPPED & TWISTED BACK. S-RAY REVEALS ARTHRITIS AND CALCIUM DEPOSITS ON HIS SPINE. AT THIS TIME IT IS NOT DETERMINED WHETHTER BACK PAIN IS DUE TO INJURY OR IS DUE TO ARTHRITIS. CURRENTLY EE IS NOT WORKING, AND IS TAKING DAILY PHYSICAL THERAPY TREATMENTS PER DR.'S ORDER.

EMPLOYEE WAS WITH 2 OTHER MEN HAVING JUST COMPLETED REPAIRING THE GRAVEL PUMP ON THE DREDGE AND NOTICED A WATER LEAK ON CONNECTION OF HIGH PRESSURE WATER HOSE TO THE GRAVEL PUMP. EMPLOYEE TOUC HED THE HOSE TO EXAMINE IT AND IT BLEW OFF FROM THE CONNECTION CAUSING THE CLAMP TO CUT EMPLOYEE'S HAND BETWEN THUMB AND FOREFINGER (LEFT HAND).

EMPLOYEE WAS TALKING TO DREDGE OPERATOR ON 2-WAY RADIO ADVISING HIM TO SHUT DOWN OPERATIONS BECAUSE A THUNDERSTORM WAS ADVANCING FROM THE DISTANCE. LIGHTNING STRUCK SOMEWHERE OFF MIEN PROPERT Y AND APPARENTLY FOLLOWED POWER LINE TO MINE PLANTSITE. EMPLOYEE WAS KNOCKED DOWN BY THE LIGHTNING.

PIECES OF WATER PIPE ONTO BUCKET OF END LOADER, WHICH WAS USED TO TRANSPORT PIPE TO ANOTHER LOCATION TO BE INSTALLED IN WATER LIN E TO THE PIT. EMPLOYEE GOT R INDEX FINGER PINCHED BETWEEN 2 PIPE FLANGES, CAUSING CUT ON TIP OF FINGER. INJURY REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT INCLUDING THREE SUTURES.
