Worker had his right thumb smashed after unbolting a vertical pipe, approximately 6" in diameter by 4' in length. The employee was holding the pipe while another unbolted it. He lost control of the pipe after the last nut was unbolted and his thumb was caught between the pipe and the railing on the catwalk.

Employee went offsite with a supervisor to retrieve two 50 gallon barrels. Once at the location the employee jumped a fence once to retrieve the barrels and hand them over the fence to his supervisor. When they were done with the barrels the employee jumped back over the fence (approximately 4.5" tall) and fell forward onto the ground, landing on his right wrist.
