EE WAS GETTING OUT OF TRUCK & BUMPED HIS HAND ON ARMREST ON DOOR. ON 10-14-02 EE WENT TO THE DOCTOR & WAS DIAGNOSE AS HAVING A NON DISPLACED FRACTURE OF 5TH METACARPAL. EE CONTINUES TO WORK & PERFORM HIS NORMAL DUTIES.
EE WAS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE LAUNCH OBSERVING RETRIEVER SYSTEM BEING PULLED WITH A CHAIN TO MAKE ANOTHER CONNECTION. THE 3/4" ALLOY HARDENED CHAIN FAILED CAUSING 2 LINKS & A GRAB HOOK TO BECOME AIRBOURNE STRIKING HIM JUST ABOVE HIS LEFT KNEE CAUSING A COMPOUND FRACTURE.

EMPLOYEE WAS ASSISTING IN REMOVING DRAW ROCK FROM THE TOP OF THE MINER. AS THE ROCK WAS SLIDING OFF FROM THE MINER, HE GOT HIS HAND CAUGHT BETWEEN THE ROCK AND DOOR ON LAUNCH VEHICLE. THE EMPL OYEE WAS WEARING GLOVES. SUTURES AND A FINGER SPLINT FOR THE FRACTURE IS THE TREATMENT RECEIVED.
