A GAS IGNITION OCCURRED ABOUT 930AM WEDNESDAY JUNE 27-1984 AT THE TOP OF THE FROSTY RUN SHAFT OF ROBENA MINE GOT EMITTING FROM SEVERAL FEEDERS OF THE ABONDENED (FILLED) SHAFT WAS IGNITED BY HO MOLTEN STEEL CREATED BY THE TORCH BEING USED BY AN INDUSTRIAL EMPLOYEE WORKING APPROX. 40\ ABOVE THE SHAFT THERE WAS NO INJURIES ON THE PROPERLY DAMAGE.

INJURED WAS WALKING ALONG A PIPELINE. HIS EAR WAS CAUGHT ON A PIECE OF STAINLESS STEEL BANDING THAT HAD BEEN INSTALLED TO HANG PIPE ON.
INJURED WAS REMOVING CANOPY FROM MINER AND WAS USING A HYDRAULIC JACK ESCAPE HATCH ON DOOR OF CANOPY WAS LIFTED TO OPEN POSITION. CANOPY SPRING UPWARD WITH A JERK CAUSING HATCH TO FALL DOWN. I NJURED PLACED HAND ON THIS AREA TO CHECK WHEN HE WAS STRUCK ON RT HAND INDEX FINGER
