Contact with hot objects or substances

Welding overhead in a chute, a piece of weld slag burned through EE's pants & into boot, causing burn to foot. Initial care was first aid, but EE was later restricted from work.

Struck by flying object

Using a Come Along to pull a piece of metal into place to weld it. EE was jacking the Come Along & a link in the chain on the Come Along failed, springing back and struck EE in the face-above eye and on forehead.

Struck against stationary object

While changing out roller, they reached inside framework to move the roller, roller stuck on conveyor belt. They pulled hard, roller broke free, caused hand to contact with sharp metal on old conveyor truss framework.

A log got stuck in the dredge hopper. EE got supports to block the grizzly from moving. EE was positioning the support by reaching through the handrails. The support slipped, the grizzly kept descending and struck EE's hardhat. EE pulled head back, cutting nose on the handrail.

EMPLOYEE'S HARD HAT DROPPED AND EMPLOYEE REACHED DOWN TO PICK IT UP AND HE STRUCK IS HEAD ON THE STEEL GUARD ON THE CRANE. EMPLOYEE CUT THE TOP OF HIS HEAD AND HAD TO HAVE 2 STITCHES.

Over-exertion in lifting objects

EMPLOYEE WAS REMOVING ROCK FROM THE CRUSHER. WHILE LIFTING THE ROCK HE FELT SOMETHING PULL IN HIS LOWER STOMACH. HE WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED AS LOWER ABDOMINAL STRAIN, BUT NOW IS BEING CHECKED FOR KIDNEY STONES. EMPLOYEE IS RESTRICTED.

EMPLOYEE WAS WELDING THE FEED HOPPER. HOT SLAG GOT ON EMPLOYEE AND IT WENT THROUGH HIS COVERALLS & BURNED HIS EYE. HE USED OINTMENT FROM HOME. LATER IT BECAME INFECTED, HE WENT TO DOCTOR ON 2-23-2000.
