Upon arrival at the mine site, the Assistant Plant Manager noticed what looked to be a transformer fire on the mine property. All appropriate notifications were made as soon as possible.

Two trespassers were operating dirt bikes inside the Martin Marietta quarry. The men were driving down one of the pathways, one of them collided with a closed gate, causing fatal injuries. The other person stated that they had driven down Old Charlotte Hwy and crossed over the rail road tracks to get inside the property. This fatal should be Non-Chargeable to the mine.

A trespasser, along with 6 other teenagers entered the mine site illegally to go swimming in the pit pond at the lowest level of the pit. One of the trespassers was injured when he fell from the high wall into the water. Our understanding is that he broke a bone and had a fractured skull. This injury is not chargeable to the mine

Mechanic was tightening bolts on a mud flap, as he was holding the bolt on the front side with his left hand and tightening the nut with his right, when the ratchet slipped off the bolt and hit his left side upper lip *resulting in two stitches. * This injury is a reportable medical with no restricted duty and no lost work.

Employee was squatting down washing out from under a conveyor, when a slab of rock fell seven feet from the conveyor, striking him on the left shoulder. Employee was checked out at hospital and released and was referred to an orthopedist to have shoulder evaluated. *employee was not able to return to work today making this a lost time incident.
