BAKERS QUARRY Metal/Non-Metal

Two trespassers were operating dirt bikes inside the Martin Marietta quarry. The men were driving down one of the pathways, one of them collided with a closed gate, causing fatal injuries. The other person stated that they had driven down Old Charlotte Hwy and crossed over the rail road tracks to get inside the property. This fatal should be Non-Chargeable to the mine.

A trespasser, along with 6 other teenagers entered the mine site illegally to go swimming in the pit pond at the lowest level of the pit. One of the trespassers was injured when he fell from the high wall into the water. Our understanding is that he broke a bone and had a fractured skull. This injury is not chargeable to the mine

Mechanic was tightening bolts on a mud flap, as he was holding the bolt on the front side with his left hand and tightening the nut with his right, when the ratchet slipped off the bolt and hit his left side upper lip *resulting in two stitches. * This injury is a reportable medical with no restricted duty and no lost work.

Employee was squatting down washing out from under a conveyor, when a slab of rock fell seven feet from the conveyor, striking him on the left shoulder. Employee was checked out at hospital and released and was referred to an orthopedist to have shoulder evaluated. *employee was not able to return to work today making this a lost time incident.

Employee had fueled loader and was getting down off loader when he stepped on the fueling hose causing his ankle to roll over on its side which broke bone in right foot.

PRESCRIPTION EYE DROPS NEEDED FOR IRRATATED EYE CAUSED BY A METAL SHAVING THAT WENT OVER THE TOPOF HIS GLASSES AND SCRATCHED HIS EYE.

EMPLOYEE WAS CUTTING BRUSH OFF A FENCE AT CHURCHWHEN THE CHAIN CAME OFF THE CHAINSAW AND STRUCK HIM IN THE LEFT KNEE RESULTING IN STITCHES.

EMPLOYEE WAS REACHING UNDER TRUCK TO FEE A HOSE THROUGH WHEN HE CAME IN CONTACT WITH A SHARP PIECE OF METAL THAT WAS LOCATED BETWEEN THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE AND THE FENDER WELL. AS HE WAS WALKING BETWEEN THE LOCATION HE CUT HIS RIGHT EAR/CARTILEDGE.

EE WAS SHOVELING ON TOWER-WIND BLEW GRIT UNDER HIS SAFETY GLASSES AND CUT HIS EYE

EMPLOYEE WAS TIGHTENING A PIPE NIPPLE ON TEH 5 1/2 STD CRUSHER. HE WAS STANDING ON A LADDER AND THE PIPE WRENCH SLIPPED CAUSING HIM TO FALL AND HIT HIS SIDE ONT HE CRUSHER BEAM. HIS LEFT 8TH RIB WAS FRACTURED. EMPLOYEE FELL APPROX 4 FEET.

EMPLOYEE WAS WASHING OUT BEHIND #3 TAIL PULLEY, FACING THE DISCHARGE END OF THE SCREEN. A ROCK FELL OFF THE #1 DIESTER STRIKING EMPLOYEE ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. EMPLOYEE SUFFERED A BRUISED SHOU LDER.

EMPLOYEE WAS GETTING OFF HIS LOADER AND SLIPPED HITTING HIS ARM. EMPLOYEE WENT TO THE DOCTOR. RESULTS WERE A SPRAINED WRIST. PAIN MEDICATION WAS PRESCRIBED.

EMPLOYEE HIT STEEL COUPLING TO LOOSEN SCREW A SLIVER FLEW OFF AND HIT HIM IN THE LEFT THIGH NO STITCHED WERE REQUIRED AND THE DOCTOR DID NOT REMOVE THE SLIVER ANTIBIOTICS WERE PRESCRIBED

EMPLOYEE WAS STANDING NEAR PIT WALL AT EMPLOYEE BUILDING AT TIME OF BLASTING IN PIT WHEN BLAST OCCURRED ROCK AND DEBRIS FLEW UP OUT OF PIT AND A ROCK STRUCK THE SIDE OF EMPLOYEE BUILDING GLANC ED OFF AND STRUCK EMPLOYEES RIGHT LEG AT THIGH CAUSING BRUISE PLACE ON LEG WITH CUT AND PUNCTURE WOUND NO IMPAIRMENT
