Excessive rainfall over the past several days has caused the Kickapoo Creek to exceed its banks allowing water to collect in the pit such that normal operations have been stopped. All equipment and personnel had been removed from the pit and were not affected by the water.

THE INJURED WAS HOLDING A STEEL LINER PLATE WHILE THE SECOND EMPLOYEE WAS STRIKING IT WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER. THE STEEL LINER SWUNG LOOSE MOVING THE INJURED'S HAND INTO THE LINE OF THE SLEDGE HAM MER. THE SECOND EMPLOYEE THEN STRUCK THE INJURED'S HAND FRACTURING HIS LEFT RING FINGER.
