AN EMULSION JACK WAS BEING USED TO FREE LONGWALL SHIELD NO 125,WHICH WAS WEDGED BETWEEN THE GOB PLATE AND SHIELD NO 124.THE PLATE WAS ANGLED;LEANING TOWARD THE JACK.AS THE JACK WAS PRESSURIZED THE PLATE ANGLE DECREASED ENOUGH TO FREE THE JACK HEAD;RELEASINNG THE POTENTIAL ENERGY STORED IN THE FLEXING OF THE PLATE.THIS CAUSED THE JACK TO COME UP STRIKING EMPLOYEE.
