While unloading drill steels, a steel fell and the left middle finger was caught between a resting steel and the falling steel, resulting in a laceration to the finger.

EE was wearing gloves without impact protection in the nail area of thumb and forefinger. EE received laceration to left thumb and avulsion of nail, physician used 11 stitches to close laceration and secure nail. EE did not receive any prescription medications or restricted duty and returned to work same day.
