Granite Construction Company · Caught in, under or between a moving and a stationary object

Employee was attempting to remove a rock stuck between two grizzly bars and pinched their left middle finger between the rock and the grizzly bar, causing a fracture to the tip of the middle finger.

Employee was not lifting anything heavy and he felt a little sore in the pelvic area. He did not report anything and supervisor hear by word of mouth. His next shift that he worked he was told to go to the doctor two days after that it was found out that he had a hernia and needed surgery. The employee told supervisor he did not know what caused it and if it was even work related.

Monday morning (7/25/05) Employee was dispatched to another site and showed up complaing that he must have got a hernia on saturday at work. He went to the doctor and the doctor confirmed he did have a hernia and needed surgery. On saturday employee asked for help from laborer in lifting some but not all items. Did not complain that day of any pain.
